Emerging from Emergency: Releasing Pandemic Trauma
and Forging Ahead with Alignment and Balance

The past two years have stretched teachers beyond their limits, resulting in a feeling of exhaustion from the constant pivoting and living in a world of unknowns. You have been required to adapt at a moment’s notice, approaching your work in completely new ways, complying with mandates, and supporting students through unparalleled change and stress.
Emerging out of this place of urgency, you may feel in a state of disrepair and disconnect. Perhaps you feel on edge, have trouble falling and/or staying asleep, constantly tired and irritable. You may feel that friends and loved ones outside of the school system do not fully understand what you have gone through.
Sound healing reduces stress and anxiety, placing the brain into a theta state of deep relaxation. In this meditative state, we are able to access our subconscious where we store trauma, old programming, and low vibrational thoughts and emotions such as fear and anxiety. Sound healing works on a vibrational level to remove disharmony and tension, restoring phsyical and emotional wellbeing
This self-care workshop will create a nurturing space among a group of fellow teachers for processing and releasing stress and trauma from these difficult two years, and moving forward with intention and purpose.
The day will begin with witnessing one another’s story. We will move into breath work, as we shift the chemistry of our cells and calm the nervous system. Breath work connects us to our consciousness and releases emotional and energetic blocks.
Then we shift into demonstrating techniques to effectively integrate sound healing instruments into a self-care practice followed by time for hands-on play. Tools we’ll explore will include tuning forks, chimes, singing bowls, tingshas, and more. As you notice your own response to these instruments, you may be inspired to bring some into your classroom to get students’ attention, or even to practice mindful moments.
After a short break we will transition into a guided progressive muscle relaxation to release physical tension and calm the mind, and will end the day flowing into a full Reiki-infused sound meditation to nurture you in the vibrations of a full array of sound healing instruments, followed by an opportunity to share experiences.
We recommended bringing personal items for your comfort such as a yoga mat and/or blanket, pillow, eye mask, etc. A journal is suggested to jot down some of your experiences while they are still fresh in your mind. You are also welcome to bring any metaphysical items to clear and cleanse.
